Mvelo talks to us about his time in the Big Brother Mzansi mansion following his eviction

Mvelo is sent packing from the Big Brother Mzansi House

In the first Sunday live eviction ceremony of Big Brother Mzansi Season 3, 2 Housemates were eliminated. There were 5 Housemates nominated: Mvelo Ntuli, Rethabile “Dinkybliss” Potsane, Gershwin “Gash1” Mthombeni, Michelle “Mphowabadimo” Mavundla and Norman Nhlapho – and it was Mvelo and Dinkybliss who were given the first boot.

But bubbly and sociable Mvelo insists that he wouldn’t change a thing about his time on the reality show. “My time in the Big Brother Mzansi mansion was astounding. If I could, I would do it all over again,” says Mvelo. “I met really amazing people that I’d love to continue knowing,” adds the 28-year-old proud Pietermaritzburg-born marketing guru. Read below to find out about his experience as a Housemate.

7 Questions with Mvelo

Were there any expectations before walking into the Big Brother Mzansi mansion?

“None whatsoever. I entered Big Brother Mzansi for a few reasons. First, to test my hustling skills, to shine a light on my hometown Pietermaritzburg, and most importantly, I entered because I wanted that R2 million, and I believed I could win it.”

Describe your emotions when you walked into the Big Brother Mzansi mansion.

“When I entered the house, I was a ball of emotions. The anxiety of not being at home got to me but also, I was anxious and excited to meet new people. It’s such an overwhelming feeling being part of an experience and a movement that’s broadcast in other countries as well.”

Why do you think the housemates nominated you?

“Truly speaking I wasn’t shocked when I got nominated. When you’re being your 100% true self, you can become a threat to others without even realising it, so naturally they’ll try to remove you from the game.”

And then, you were evicted. Talk us through your emotions.

“It was a bittersweet moment. Sad because no one likes losing. But exciting because my name is now part of a huge production. This can open more doors for me. I believe that I’m now entering an exciting exercise of cementing myself within the career path I have chosen [as a marketing consultant], and it’s easier now because my name and personality is known by the public.”

What do you think viewers will remember you for?

“My laugh. I didn’t know it’s memorable until I saw the comments on social media.”

What do you think you’ve learnt about yourself after being a Housemate for 2 weeks?

“I’ve learnt that I’m not hungry for the limelight as I thought I was. I also realised that I’m more reserved than I believed.”

Now that you're out, who do you think has the best chances of winning the money?

“Honestly, it’s too early to tell. It’s only the third week. Those that are being authentic and those who are “performing” are yet to reveal themselves. It will be interesting to see how the competition unfolds.”
