SA Hip Hop diss tracks

When rappers blast each other in heated verses, you know business is being handled. And the South African Hip Hop scape has been no different - what with a number of highly publicised feuds over the years. Now that Big Zulu has ignited a new flame with the release of his disses on '150 Bars', we are looking at some of the hardest diss tracks of all time.

AKA - COMPOSURE (SHOTS AT CASSPER)

AKA and Cassper Nyovest's long-suffering feud has given the culture some of the most talked about moments. This supply has delivered several diss tracks, sub-tweets, direct confrontations and lyrical jabs coded in a number of verses. In 2015, AKA dropped one of the most iconic shots at Cassper Nyovest.

Bars and swipes aside, the single went on to reach GOLD status and become a massive chart success for Supamega. The single's commercial success only amplified the brags contained in the verses. AKA was also lauded for keeping a cool cadence while maintaining the song's combative punch.

CASSPER NYOVEST FT. RIKY RICK - LE MPITSE (SHOTS AT STOGIE T)

King Kotini came out of the gate swinging on his verse on 'Le Mpitse'. The late rapper, who passed away earlier this year, fired blazing shots at Stogie T. At the time of the track's arrival, many people had not been aware of any strife between the two.

As soon as the verse debuted in the streets, however, tales of their fallout surfaced. Riky Rick had once been signed to Stogie T's label, but came out with fumes after Stogie T had shared a snap of the 'Family Values' plaque.

BIG XHOSA - NI****LE (SHOTS AT EVERYONE)

Big Xhosa's rise to prominence has its genesis in displays of bold bluster. Although his career has yet to max out on its deserved mainstream potential, the rapper has been able to gain a massive following based on the clout fuelled by viral tracks. Everyone came under fire on this joint, in which goes as far as comparing himself to Tupac. He raps with a roaring rage, and targets the most prominent rappers without flinching.

L-TIDO - BLACK SUIT

Lauded for his lyricism and swaggy flows, L-Tido is not the kind of rapper you want smoke with. He scorches AKA throughout the song, and blows plenty of steam without missing a beat. The song is applauded for its evergreen appeal, with those bars still as potent as they were when the song landed in 2011.

BIG ZULU - 150 BARS (KE HIP HOP DAWG) - (SHOTS AT EVERYONE)

A slew of established Hip Hop incumbents gets a thrashing on Big Zulu's freshly released diss song. The highly-hyped diss finds the Inkabi Records leader blasting the likes of K.O, Emtee, Cassper, AKA and many others. Many see the song as the Imali Eningi hitmaker's master plan to generate more interest in SA Hip Hop. It's been working!
