Have these city slickers underestimated just how tricky life in in Jozi really is?

The city has already started spitting out a few of our faves. Having set them up for failure. We’ve compiled a list of people who became a statistic of Jozi’s polluted back streets and corrupt high towers. The poor souls who had an encounter with the city, and it ended badly. Help us weigh in here.

Claudia

Marrying rich has it’s perks but there’s got to be a measure of love somewhere in the mix. Otherwise you might just end up like Claudia, sabotaged at every turn by your own husband.

When she could no longer stand a marriage of convenience, little did she know that it was too late. It also didn’t help that she’d also gotten herself wrapped up in Banzi’s corrupt, compromising deals.

Will Claudia ever break free from Banzi? If she does, will she have anything to show for it?

Bambatha

We all know how the story of the Good Samaritan ends. Often good deeds go unnoticed or worse, in Bambatha’s case, they turn bad. How does a student leader with a strong sense of wrong and right, with a conviction to hold an unfair education system to account – find himself with the sword of corruption in his hand? The answer is simple and devastating; money.

But Bambatha’s fall from grace is not without a kick at the bottom and tough lesson. Causing Palesa’s heartbreak after he was unfaithful to her came back to bite. Alongside a troubled career at the SRC, the consequences of betraying a great girl like Palesa are settling in like a damp smelly cloth.

Will Palesa consider taking him back now that his a shadow of his former self?

Ali

The street trade came make you street smart but it often comes at a cost. When the currency is bad deeds for cash and clout, one can never have a handle of the street life. Working for Banzi Motaung was possibly the biggest mistake that Ali ever made. Getting into bed with the devil always is.

In too deep, Ali was wedged between a rock and fiery hard place. He wasn’t innocent as an accomplice to Banzi but he certainly wasn’t the killer. Unfortunately, people in his position become the scape goat and worse, the sacrificial lamb.

Has Ali died for Banzi’s sins or his own?

Simi

Simi is walking the thin line between good and bad, and it all started the day that she met Banzi and he offered her a place to stay, at no charge. Since then he seems to be reeling her in with the slyness of a fox. Too many grand gestures later, he’s clearly got a hold over her involving himself in the sensitive matter of her mother, Thuli, who left her when she was young. After finding Thuli in a brothel down town he decided to lie to Simi.

So grave is his hold he was able to do this…

But Gogo is certainly not buying it.

Will Simi figure Banzi’s ulterior motives out before it’s too late?
