We are half-way into the season, and we’re hooked. Here’s five things we love about the Saturday Showdown:
The hosts
Co-hosts Thato Moeng and Felix Hlophe are the reason you need to stay home every Saturday night, okay? Their energy is seamless and keeps us glued to our screens.
The teams
We have six teams that are made up three super cool individuals, a celebrity team captain, plus a lucky DStv rewards player. The teams Fire Fairies, BLT, Intombi ZamaZulu, Mapirara, Franky’s Finest and Rise And Shine bring fire to the games arena every week, as they face-off in a knock-out competition for that massive grand prize.
The team captains
Our team captains include football analyst Josta Dladla; singer/dancer Kamo Mphela; renowned actress and brand ambassador Zola Nombona; reality TV star, athlete, and pro-ruby player Siyamthanda “Juicy Jay” Jwacu; TV presenter and reality star Khanyi Mbau and former Moroka Swallows player Dikgang Mabalane. We love them for their skills and team strategy.
The games
We can’t help but love the new games this season. These include Four-Four Masihlalisane, Phunyuka Bamphethe, Mbamparrah, Do or Die and Pop It The Return. Of course, we still have love for some of the old games, including No Pain No Gain to Your Tube, Finish the Lyrics and Chi-Ga-Go.
The DStv viewer’s competition
Each week, one lucky DStv rewards player is selected randomly and is asked a show related question at the end of the show. If they get the answer correct, they are entered into the lucky draw where they stand a chance to win over half a million at the end of the season.
The games continue every week and teams are fighting to be at the top of the leadership board. Which team is your money on?
