Day 14: Kitchen fails – BBMzansi

News
05 February 2022
Whether or not you’re the most talented cook in the kitchen, we all have our mishaps. Fortunately for some of us, especially Big Brother Mzansi’s Venus those mishaps can be quite entertaining instead of embarrassing.

Let’s have a look at the most noteworthy mishap from Biggie’s kitchen thus far, Venus’s failed attempt at making amagwinya. First thing first, for those that don’t know what amagwinya is, it’s a Zulu term that translates to fat-cakes. This term originated straight from eKasi.

Recently, Venus took an attempt at making amagwinya and her skills caused quite a stir on social media. For anyone who’s an expert at making or indulging in this South African delicacy, you’d know that amagwinya need to be fried in plenty of hot oil until golden brown and slightly swollen, with a soft bread –like center.  Unfortunately, this was not the case with the Housemate’s creation. At first glance her creation could be mistaken for rocks and stones. As usual, Big Brother Mzansi’s fan didn’t hold back on the comments, and for a moment we were convinced that #AmagwinyaKaVenus would be the trending hashtag on social media…right after #BBMzansi of course.

Let’s take a look at some of your hilarious comments…

Penelope put the blame on Gash1. Apparently Venus’s focus was on him instead of the pots.

Nonnie and Thabiso wanted to know if Venus’s delicacy was really amagwinya or just stones.

Brian had no word’s and just threw in the towel on behalf of Venus.

Martin was defeated by what the Housemate said about her own effort. He was beside himself with laughter. Boitumelo described the Housemate's creation as 'the stone that killed Goliath.'

Sakhile only saw muffins no matter how hard he tried to access.

Siyar asked us to have a word with Venus and make sure that she never attempts making amagwinya again.

Lesson learned? Take everything as a learning experience, apply yourself, find humour in some of your mistakes and always taste throughout the process.
