All our love, Lerato – Idols SA

The relentless whittling down of Idols SA finalists continues …
Lerato singing on stage.

On Sunday night, the crop of Idols SA hopefuls grew smaller by one – Lerato heard that she hadn’t secured enough of your votes to make it through to the next stage of the competition and was sent home. On the one hand, this comes as no real surprise – there is always going to be somebody who doesn’t make the cut, but it’s always just a touch painful to say goodbye to somebody who didn’t make it, since we’ve come to expect seeing them on our screens on Sundays.

Lerato first impressed the judges during day 4 of Theatre Week:

Once through to Theatre Week, it was time to drop a duet with another early favourite, Zadwesh. This was not his greatest effort, but his audition was so good, he managed to survive it – for a time.

Theatre Week is an arduous trial, and making it through the duet was really just the first step. After that, Lerato was on her own again with this solo number;

Having been named as a successful finalist, it was time for audiences to get to know her a little better:

Then came the Live Shows, and a collaboration with Nomfundo Moh:

Once again, Lerato immediately had to follow that up with another solo performance – one that earned her the votes to stay in the competition:

Then came her final performance in the competition. Fittingly – and disappointingly – her performance of ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me’ did not earn her the votes to survive into the Top 9:

While ProVerb and the judges have already bid her farewell, keep an eye out for an exclusive exit interview with Lerato, coming soon.
