A healthy state of mind – Isithembiso

KB and Zo show us the meaning of support and acceptance.

Zoleka and KB

Zoleka and KB's life fell in between the cracks when they found out about their positive HIV status, but they have since come a long way.

Breaking stereotypes

Zoleka had only slept with two boys when she went for her HIV test, having spear headed awareness on her own show and egging students to know their status on the Woke Drive.

There was no way she could predict her positive status.

Her storyline breaks the stereotype that in order to be infected, a person has to have multiple sexual partners in their lifetime.

KB couldn’t have imagined his last partner was HIV positive because she was a presentable good girl. The two were shaken to the reality that they had been exposed to the virus through unassuming partners.

Love and light

Once Zoleka realised hat HIV is not a death sentence, she got geared up! She found out everything she could and started taking her ARV'S.

A positive HIV diagnosis is not something to be taken lightly, but with modern treatments, the diagnosis is no longer a death sentence.

When KB didn't want to take the ARV's. she encouraged him to man up and deal with the status in order to be healthy.

Because of the misconception that her family has about the status, they encouraged her not to tell anyone about her status.

However, with her and bae supporting eachother every step of the way the two are encouraged to own their story. Can we say couple goals?

Zo has taken her power back and encouraged KB to do the same, and now our girl is back to tackling real issues on the Woke Drive.

We love to see what a great support system can achieve! Tune into Isithembiso weekdays at 7PM, and join the conversation using #IsithembisoMzansi
