The decision follows the announcement by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Sunday 15 March 2020 about the COVID-19 pandemic. In light of the concerns about public gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic the recordings in front of a studio audience at Roxy Review bar have been placed on hold until 14 April 2020.

The second season of kykNET’s popular reality show was in production at GrandWest Casino in Cape Town and will be broadcast on kykNET and kykNET&kie from 29 April 2020.

“As the rest of the country takes precautionary measures to minimise the spread of the COVID-19 we have decided to postpone our current production schedule. We thank the audiences that have been supporting our live recordings and look forward to sharing the journey of our Top 48 with viewers in April.” confirmed producer and presenter Emo Adams.

Maak my Famous is a popular reality show hosted by Emo Adams and Tarryn Lamb that plays on kykNET (DStv channel 144) and kykNET&kie (DStv channel 145). The show gives young artists the opportunity to showcase their talent while being mentored by Emo and his team. The show is recorded in front of a live audience that vote for their favourite contestants to secure their spot in the competition.

The winner of Maak my Famous will receive a cash prize of R100 000, a car sponsored by Toyota, a contract by All Star Management and a tour with Emo Adams for a year.

“The first season of Maak my Famous was a runaway hit that had about 1.4 million viewers voting to secure the top 2 talents in the competition. The feedback from our current live audiences have been extremely positive and we know that viewers are going to be just as excited about the incredible talent our country has to offer.” said Karen Meiring Director of kykNET Channels for M-Net.

Cheswyn Ruiters walked away with the title as winner of the first Maak my famous who toured with Emo Adams. The Top 10 talents from season 1 recently sold out the GrandWest Arena in Cape Town for a spectacular showcase.

The second season received 8000 entries and will start airing on kykNET (DStv channel 144) and kykNET&kie (DStv Channel 145) on 29 April 2020.

“We are really excited about the second season but right now we need to take the necessary precautions, in April the production and journey to find our next Maak my Famous winner will continue.” concluded Meiring.
