Ethan (Cantona James)

The actor stars as Ethan, a compassionate teenager caught between responsibility and survival. As a driver for a local gang in the Cape Flats, Ethan is forced to grow up quickly. His life takes an unexpected turn when he discovers a talent for spinning, opening the door to a future he never imagined. Beyond Spinners, Cantona has appeared as Ezra Grootboom in Die Toring, a drama set within an elite Cape Town investment firm, where ambitious junior analysts navigate power struggles, desire and ruthless competition. Viewers may also recognise him as Malcolm in Breekpunt, a tennis drama about a determined teenager chasing international success at great personal cost, and as Tomas in Trompoppie.

Hercules (Brendon Daniels)

He plays Hercules, a ruthless gangster whose presence looms large in Ethan’s world. Tough, intimidating and fiercely protective of his turf, Hercules represents the life Ethan is trying to leave behind. Outside of Spinners, the actor is known for his role as Johan in Die Nuusmakers, a drama that follows journalists as they navigate the pressures of delivering critical news while balancing personal crises. He also stars as Detective Forty Bell in White Lies. Once a respected detective with the Hawks, Forty was demoted after mishandling a high-profile murder investigation.

Kayla (Melanie du Bois)

She plays Kayla, Ethan’s mother, whose struggle with substance abuse has kept her away from her family for much of his life. By the time she returns, Ethan has already become deeply involved in gang life and has taken on the responsibility of caring for his younger brother in her absence. Hoping to rebuild her relationship with her sons, Kayla must confront the consequences of the choices that have shaped their lives. The actress has also appeared as Dr Marais in Die Byl, Pam in Suidooster, Mercy in Koek, and Ronel in Arendsvlei, showcasing her versatility across some of South Africa's most popular television dramas.

Shane (Dillion Windvogel)

He plays Shane, a spinning enthusiast dedicated to the sport and determined to keep his crew united. Driven by his passion for spinning and a strong sense of loyalty, Shane plays an important role in helping Ethan discover his talent. The actor is best known for his role as Vernon in soapie Arendsvlei, where he portrayed an ambitious high school student navigating the many challenges of adolescence. He also appeared as Tackies in the drama series Sara se Geheim.

Amber (Chelsea Thomas)

She plays Amber, a talented spinner who becomes both a mentor and a love interest to Ethan. While their growing connection brings them closer, they are also fierce competitors, both determined to come out on top in a major spinning competition. The actress can also be seen as Angelique in Arendsvlei S4-5, who’s life is turned upside down when the shocking truth about her family’s involvement in human trafficking. She also plays lead in Ashleigh in the tennis drama series Breekpunt, and Jocelyn in youthful show Wyfie.

Damien (Elton Landrew)

He plays Damien, the ruthless and manipulative leader of the gang that has a powerful hold over Ethan's life. Calculating and intimidating, Damien will do whatever it takes to maintain control. The actor also stars as Tariq in Beter as Gister, portraying a grieving widower and former police officer. You’ll also recognise him as Steve Mortlock in Arendsvlei, who was introduced after his release from prison and shakes up the small town.

Phumeza (Katlego Lebogang)

She plays Detective Phumeza who is investigating a murder linked to Ethan in Spinners. The actress is also known for her role as Nonzi in White Lies, where she portrays a former beauty queen whose seemingly perfect life masks a sense of confinement within her luxurious but restrictive world. She also stars as Zinhle in Soft Life, a glamorous and ambitious woman determined to elevate her circumstances. As the self-assured Queen Bee and top earner at NubiaBlaq, an elite escort agency and she is unapologetically confident, driven and drawn to the finer things in life.
