New DStv packages: What to expect

So you’ve heard DStv is bringing in a whole new package offering?

DStv is introducing new packages in South Africa from 17 September 2026. The changes include new package names, revised channel lineups, a Sports package, a new Movies. + Series package, updated pricing and automatic migration. Here’s everything you need to know about the new DStv packages.

New DStv packages explained

You’ve asked and DStv is listening. The new packages are simpler, clearer and offer more of what you want: more sport, more channels, and fewer repeats.

The six core packages are designed to make great content more accessible. In South Africa, there is:

  • Starter (85+ channels, from R99 PM)
  • Select (100+ channels from R299 PM)
  • Sports (115+ channels from R399 PM)
  • Movies & Series (115+ channels, R500 PM)
  • Premium (130+ channels, from R799 PM) (unchanged offering)
  • EasyView (35+ channels for R30 PM) (unchanged offering)

For the first time, DStv has a Sports package, as well as a Movies & Series package that offers the very best international and local entertainment. Both packages also offer everything that’s available to Select and Starter subscribers.

From there, Sports adds every match of the Premier League, Champions League and the South African Premiership (PSL), local rugby including the Currie Cup and SA Cup, with a taste of international club rugby (URC Match of the week), Combat sports (UFC/EFC), and cycling, including the Tour de France and Cape Epic. You’ll also get SuperSport Cricket, previously only available to Premium subscribers. It includes all the cricket from the SA20, IPL, the Proteas and Tests.

Movies & Series adds the best local and international entertainment we have to offer: M-Net, kykNET, Mzansi Magic, BBC Earth, Discovery Channel, and M-Net Movies+ (formerly M-Net Movies 1&2), now available at a much lower price point than ever before, plus the same full PSL coverage carried over from Select.

Why are DStv packages changing?

We’re making the packages simpler and easier for our customers to understand. We’re strengthening our channel lineup, giving customers more value and fresher content. It’s the first step in a wider effort to make DStv even better for customers.

What's changing for me?

From 17 September, DStv customers are being migrated to new packages, and the new packages will be available to new subscribers. The migration is being implemented in phases, and even if your account shows your old package name, you’ll still receive any new channels.

Which customers are affected?

Premium and EasyView stay the same, although of course Premium customers have access to our exciting new channels. Compact Plus is also unchanged, although no new subscriptions to Compact Plus are possible.

All DStv subscribers will be automatically migrated to their new packages:

  • Premium, Compact Plus and EasyView subscribers stay on their current package.
  • Movies & Series is a new package.
  • Compact subscribers move to Sports.
  • Family subscribers move to Select.
  • Access subscribers move to Starter.

New channels on DStv

We’ve taken the opportunity to refine our channel lineup, reducing repeats and concentrating on fewer, stronger channels.

Wethu+ is our new mega channel. Available on all packages from Starter, it offers two live SL matches weekly, international movies and local content you’re used to seeing on higher tiers.

Some channels are being consolidated to make a stronger offering.

  • We’re saying goodbye to Mzansi Wethu, Bioskop Movies and Mzansi Music. Your favourite content from those channels will now be on Wethu+, alongside new and exciting content.
  • kykNET & kie replaces kykNET Lekker, which combines fresh and windowed content. Even better news: kykNET & kie is now available to all packages, right down to Starter, meaning even more people can watch the best Afrikaans content.
  • M-Net Movies 1 and 2 become M-Net Movies + (Channel 106), available on Premium and Movies & Series.
  • M-Net Movies 3 is now M-Net Stars (Channel 107), delivering fresh Hollywood titles for the first time. It’s available on Premium, Movies & Series and Sports.
  • M-Net Movies 4 is now M-Net Legends (Channel 108). Available on all packages down to Starter, it delivers blockbuster classics you'll watch again and again.

What extra sport can I watch?

  • SuperSport Cricket moves from being exclusive to Premium to being accessible to Sports package customers.
  • Local and select club rugby, including one URC fixture a week, is now available on Sports.
  • SuperSport PSL channel is now available to Select.
  • Starter will get two PSL Matches of the Week, and two Premier League Matches of the Week, streaming on Wethu+.
  • Springbok rugby, international rugby, Formula 1, golf, tennis and motorsport stay exclusive to Premium for now.

SuperSport channel changes

  • SuperSport Football Plus (Channel 206) is your dedicated destination for premium football. It’s the home of the UEFA Champions League matches. Previously SuperSport Variety 1.
  • SuperSport KICKOFF (Channel 207) delivers select live PSL and Premier League matches, as well as selected LaLiga, Serie A and Ligue 1 fixtures. Previously SuperSport Variety 2.
  • SuperSport Africa (Channel 208) is a home of local South African sport, including the Diski Challenge, CAF Champions League and Confed Cup, local netball and basketball. Previously SuperSport Variety 3.
  • SuperSport Action (Channel 209) is a dedicated home for UFC, PFL and other combat sports. Previously SuperSport Variety 4.
  • SuperSport Extra (Channel 210) gives you cycling and niche sports such as hockey, swimming, padel and more. Previously SuperSport Action.
  • SuperSport Extra 2 (Channel 217) is a brand-new channel offering more premium sport when major events overlap.

What do I need to do now?
