DStv celebrates South African stories as new packaging goes live
Big Brother Mzansi Season 7 confirmed at DStv’s immersive Expect More experience as the refreshed line-up launches in South Africa.
DStv confirmed the return of Big Brother Mzansi for Season 7 at its DStv Expect More event in Johannesburg on Wednesday night, as its refreshed package line-up goes live today across satellite and DStv Stream.
The event celebrated the African stories, personalities and sporting moments behind DStv, while giving guests a look at what is still to come.
The overhauled package lineup includes Starter, Select, Sports, Movies & Series and Premium. Mzansi Magic is now available in Select, while M-Net and kykNET are included in Movies & Series. The new Sports package brings together 17 sports channels, while Starter gains 10 channels, including Wethu+ and SuperSport KICKOFF.

Big Brother Mzansi is coming back, Spinners returns soon, and there is a strong pipeline of entertainment and live sport ahead for South African subscribers - now more accessible than ever.”
Big brother is back
In 2026 to date, across kykNET and Mzansi channels alone, DStv has already aired 266 South African titles, spanning drama, reality, movies, soaps, documentaries and entertainment. This excludes international content and programming from third-party channels carried on DStv.
The evening brought together stars like Kim Engelbrecht, Carol Tshabalala, Cantona James, Aphiwe Mkefe, Govan Whittles, Tim Theron, Pastor X, Musa Mseleku, Tumisho Masha, Reandie Grey, journalists, and social media stars including Vafa Naraghi, PD Jokes, The City Makoti and more. Big Brother Mzansi host Smash Afrika and Season 6 winner Liema Pantsi were also in attendance as the return of Season 7 news was announced.
More than 300 live matches produced by SuperSport
Beyond local and international entertainment, and moving to the drama of live sport, SuperSport produces more than 300 live matches each season across the Premier Soccer League, SA20 and Currie Cup alone, including all 240 Betway Premiership games, all 34 SA20 matches and all 31 Currie Cup fixtures. SuperSport also produce Proteas home internationals and locally played United Rugby Championship matches, alongside studio shows including Extra Time, Soccer Africa, Fan Base, The Lineup, The Final Whistle and Phaka.
New packages go live 17 September
DStv’s refreshed package line-up takes effect today. Existing customers will be automatically migrated to their new package by the end of September as part of a staggered rollout. There is no price increase with the launch of the new packages.
With more than 300 South African titles and more than 300 live matches produced by SuperSport across just three competitions, and Big Brother Mzansi Season 7 now confirmed, there is plenty more to expect.
