DStv confirms the launch of brand-new music and youth channel celebrating African sound, style and pop culture on Thursday,19 March at 10:00.
DStv is adding BASE Pulse, a brand-new entertainment channel that launches on Thursday, 19 March at 10:00 on DStv Channel 322.
The channel is designed to showcase African music and pop culture trends, and will be available on DStv Premium, Compact Plus, Compact and Access, further expanding the entertainment options available to younger audiences.
Speaking on the launch, Nomsa Philiso, Director: Content and General Entertainment in English and Portuguese Africa, for the MultiChoice Group, a CANAL+ company, says:
“We are committed to bringing value to our customers by offering the content they enjoy and connect with. BASE Pulse captures authentic and fresh African perspective.”
BASE Pulse has been created by Pulse Entertainment, a South African media house on a mission to reshape how African stories are created, distributed, and experienced, seamlessly bridging broadcast, digital, social, and experiential platforms to build globally competitive African intellectual property.
Viewers can expect a vibrant mix of their favourite hits, exclusive new releases, interviews with their favourite musicians, TikTok dance challenges, and themed music blocks.
At the forefront of the channel are Lerai Rakoditsoe, the trailblazing TV presenter who made history when she became the first African to host a show on Nickelodeon Africa, and Teboho “Fresh by Caddy” Tsotetsi, an actor, tastemaker and radio DJ.
BASE Pulse presenter, Fresh by Caddy says: “Africa has the youngest population in the world, and their stories deserve to be told at scale. As BASE Pulse, our commitment is to empower the next generation of creatives and give them a stage that stretches far beyond the continent.”
DStv Access Stream costs R99 per month, offering over 55 channels and the ability to watch two devices at the same time.
The launch also comes as DStv continues to invest in affordability. Decoder pricing has been reduced across its range, with savings of up to 57% on selected models. Entry‑level HD decoders are now priced from R499, the Explora 3B from R1,499, and the Explora Ultra from R2,999.
