South African DJ Black Coffee has made history when he received Best International Act: Africa.

Black Coffee, born Nkosinathi Maphumulo, beat off competition from seven other African artists to win the major accolade in Los Angeles.

He also snatched the album of the year award for " Pieces of Me" at the South African Music Awards in early June.

To celebrate the achievements of the local star, we'll recap some of his greatest hits.

Black Coffee's debut self-titled album was launched by this remixed classic originally done by Hugh Masekela in 1972.

Gardens of Eden - Black Coffee ft Zonke

This hit song from the 2011 "Home Brewed" album came at a time when the DJ scooped multiple awards at the SAMAs and Metro FM Awards. Black Coffee was inducted in the Guinness Book of World Records when he played for 60 hours non-stop in Soweto. The hit song helped secure Coffee’s place as one to watch in the international dance scene.

We Dance Again - Black Coffee ft Nakhane Toure

Coffee's most recent smash hit made waves all over the world, topping charts locally by September 2015.

The song became the centre of a dance video challenge on Instagram that's went viral internationally.

The challenge featured thousands of participants including politicians and celebrities.
