It’s that time of the week where we have to say “goodbye” to another recently-eliminated Idols SA contestant – this week, that contestant is none-other than Daylin Sass.

Midway through this past Sunday’s episode of Idols SA, South African audiences were told that we would have to bid Daylin Sass adieu. Daylin had a pretty good run of it – making it to the Top 5 is a serious achievement, after all – but he simply didn’t get together enough votes to make it any further in the competition.

Daylin’s Idols SA journey started like any other: with an audition. Obviously, he did pretty well, there, since he walked away with a coveted Golden Ticket following a rendition of Musa Sukwene’s “I Still Feel It”:

One of the key hurdles for any Idols SA hopeful is to make it through the group stages – to be among the few, rather than one amongst many. Daylin managed to clear this hurdle after viewers voted for him, en masse, when he delivered this performance of “Leave The Door Open”:

We can’t list every single performance that Daylin delivered during his time in the competition, but we’ll certainly take a moment to reflect on one of his songs during the Showstopper episode, when Daylin showed that he could do more than just sing – he could perform:

We’ll end, fittingly, with Daylin’s final performance in the competition, when it was announced that he had made it to the season’s Top 5. Despite not gaining enough votes to make it through top the Top 4, there is no shame, there. It’s a difficult competition, and this performance is possibly as good as any other on the night:

So, sadly, we need to take leave of Daylin Sass. We’re more than certain that he will, someday soon, return to our airwaves with music of his own. We look forward to it.
