Nobuhle (39) and her friend, Zandile have THAT kind of friendship. They value each other’s input on the kind of partner to choose.

This is why Nobuhle asked Zandile to tag along on her first date with Xolani Masuku (46) was back in 2008. The couple met at Xolani’s workplace, at the Kind Edward Hospital. They were both walking along the staircase, when suddenly Xolani stopped her and confessed his love for her.

They exchanged numbers and one day he called her, asking her to meet him in Durban, which she did and brought her friend Zandile with. Nobuhle chuckles, as she explained why she asked her friend to tag along. “I wanted her to vet him and see if I can give him a chance,” she said.

A few days later, he called her to find out she had given his request some thought, and to his delight, she agreed to dating him. Nobuhle admits she was indeed charmed, adding that she loves that he’s compassionate.

Challenges:

Xolani was involved in a car accident. Nobuhle admits those were tough times, especially since their children were quite young at that time and she had to nurse him back to health. Xolani’s mother, Busisiwe Ngobese said at some point, she almost lost hoped that he would recover.

Being on #OurPerfectWedding is really special to Xolani. “This marriage is important because I was born with a disability and I invited Our Perfect Wedding because I want to show everybody that living with a disability doesn’t mean all is lost,” he said.
