On King Jama's deathbed, a Sanusi prophesies that a great king will come from his lineage. Nandi, the daughter of eLangeni, soon gives birth to Senzangakhona's son, Shaka. From the moment he is created in his mother's womb, things are far from easy for Shaka.
Powerless and without recognition of his birthright Mlilwana kaNandi kaBhebhe faces animosity, insults, rejection, and humiliation, but through it all, his mother encourages him to stand tall.
"Don't worry, my little fire, you have the courage of a lion, and one day you will be the greatest king in the land," says his mother. Shaka believes her, after all, they have been through a lot together. Nandi risked everything for him and his survival.
In front of the other boys, young Shaka does and says prideful things. We witness this in the opening of episode one where he fearlessly does the unthinkable. While being bullied, he walks towards a beehive, puts his hand in the hive and comes out with a fistful of bees, walks towards the bullies, and they all flee.
Young Shaka is destined to be the greatest king ever, and we are about to see his story unfold right before our eyes. He will be isilo, ingonyama, indlondlo and indlovu!
