It’s no longer unusual to see huge movie stars in television shows and 1923 is no exception. The second Yellowstone spin-off starts on Thursday 22 June at 21:00 on M-Net and leading the starry pack is mega movie star Harrison Ford. More accustomed to big movie franchises, this is the first time he’s had a leading, recurring role in a television show, in a career that spans decades.

Alongside him, playing his wife, is Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren. However, she is no stranger to the small screen, having made a name for herself on TV in the ‘90s in the lead role in Prime Suspect. Recently she landed another prime TV role, playing Catherine the Great in the miniseries of the same name. It’s hardly the first time she’s played royalty. After all, she won her Oscar for playing Queen Elizabeth II.

Along with the man who plays Indiana Jones and Han Solo, the screen will be graced by a former James Bond, in the form of Timothy Dalton. Comic book fans will also be happy to see him since they know him as Niles Caulder in Doom Patrol.

The familiar faces don’t stop there. Robert Patrick has many credits under his belt, but one of his best-known roles is surely the T-1000 in Terminator 2: Judgement Day. There’s also teen sweetheart Marley Shelton who continued her prolific career right into the 21st century, including two entries in the Scream franchise, whose most recent instalment was released this year.

There are even local faces to keep your eyes open for. While much of the 1923 action takes place in Montana, there is also a storyline that takes place in Africa. Unfortunately, we can’t seem to pin down exactly where in Africa the story is supposed to take place – and it does not seem like it will ever be specified – but parts were definitely shot here, as well as in Tanzania. South African actors to look out for include Nick Boraine and Colin Moss who have featured in Hollywood movies and shows, as well as local productions such as Binnelanders and Isidingo, respectively.

Who are you looking forward to watching?
