Highlights 01 July 2022

It’s all about the shows with answers to life’s big questions this July on DStv Family

Ask “What if?” on DStv Family this July

What if a sangoma had two husbands? What if there was an island where you could fulfil your most treasured fantasy? What if twins separated at birth swapped lives? What if someone could answer that one question you have about sex or your body?

DStv Family has shows with all the answers this July.

Uit Die Slaapkamer Season 1 sees Dr. Elna Rudolph and her panel of her friends answer South Africans’ delicate bedroom questions (and there’s a new season of Ezocansi on the way, too). And for more intimate glimpses into local lives, Gogo Skhotheni Season 1 takes us inside renowned sangoma Gogo Skotheni’s efforts to marry two men.

The magical Fantasy Island Season 1 is filled with intriguing answers to outlandish “what-ifs”. It’s our favourite sunshine destination for a winter escape, but if you want to really know how to survive the cold, Alaska’s native people have answers in First Alaskans Season 1 on National Geographic (DStv Channel 181). And the telenovela No One Like You Season 1 spins a story about what happens when two men are separated at birth… and one steals the other’s life when they meet again. You know – the things you lie awake at night fantasising about.

Read on for more about these shows, and a glimpse into what else is coming your way this July on DStv Family.

Uit Die Slaapkamer Epg
Uit Die Slaapkamer Season 1

When it comes to sex, gender identity, sexuality, pregnancy and birth, and what’s “normal”, nobody knows it all… even if you think you might. So, all questions are welcome when respected sexologist and therapist Doctor Elna Rudolph takes the stage with her discussion panel – Adri Vivier (Ouma Weet Mos), actress Bianca le Grange and presenter Neels van Jaarsveld – to discuss real South Africans’ stories, letters and cries for help.

PS: Because everyone in SA has those bedroom questions, Alex Mthiyane and Dr Nomcebo Mthembu will bring us a brand new Ezoncansi Season 2 from Sunday, 24 July at 22:00 on Moja Love (DStv Channel 157).

Fantasy Island S1
Fantasy Island Season 1

With the original Fantasy Island (1977-1984) just a hazy memory, this sequel has dusted off the beach sand for a fun new adventure. Elena Roarke (Roselyn Sanchez of Devious Maids) owns a mysterious island resort where she promises that she and her staff can fulfil any fantasy. But think less Westworld, and more magical wish fulfilment. While Elena will make your dreams come true, she also shows her guests the truth about their desires.

NB! If you are watching shows on Catch Up, don’t confuse this with Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island, which is a horror/thriller movie.
