Season 1 was fantastic, but we’ve made some tiny tweaks this time ‘round that’ll make it mega-fantastic!

The Voice is international – in addition to the South African and American versions you’ve seen on M-Net there are series in everywhere from Afghanistan to Vietnam. And with these varied iterations there are quite a format differences – let’s call them “plot twists”.

The second season of The Voice SA will feature a few plot twists guaranteed to keep you glued to your screens. They include:

A longer season – Because you can’t get enough of #TheVoiceSA, we’ve extended the series run from 18 to 24 episodes. The episodes will be half-an-hour shorter but we’ll be packing even more punch into those 90 minutes.

Season 1 Recap Episode – The first episode to kick off our season on Sunday 29 January at 17:30 will see hosts Lungile and Stacey chat to the coaches about the phenomenon that was season 1 and what came in its wake. We’ll also be catching up with plenty of season 1’s talent to find out what they’ve been up to and find out how The Voice SA changed their lives. The Blind Auditions for season 2 start on Sunday 5 February.

Smaller teams – Last season’s teams were 14-deep; this year the coaches only have a dozen singing guns at their disposal. And they’ll only be taking four of them into the live shows, because there’s an extra layer of exciting eliminations in the form of…

Knockouts – The Battles are beautiful and brutal; for our sophomore series we’re getting talent to vie against one another again! After season 2’s Battles, each coach will have eight talent (they’ll have eliminated half their 12 and gained two steals). In the Knockout round, two talent will be paired against one another – the difference is that they’ll be performing their own songs (and songs they themselves have chosen). It’ll definitely be nailbiting and heartbreaking to watch Bobby get rid of even more of his singers!

So there you have it – not quite revamped but remixed, this season’s format will definitely keep you thoroughly enthralled.
