Here's our pick of movies that broke the law
the forever purge

The fifth instalment of the Purge franchise is on its way this Sunday on M-Net 101. The Forever Purge sees a new set of characters trying to break free from the horrendous nature of an ostensibly crime-free country. The Purge movies are extremely popular because it is set in a future where laws are broken and power has corrupted governance absolutely, and we get to see the consequences of such corruption. Let's look at other movies where power was manipulated and laws were broken, resulting in horrific results.

The Hunger Games

Imagine a world where you're selected and forced to fight to the death. The dystopian Hunger Games novels, which later became successful movies, gave us a thought-provoking look at what such a world would look like. Every year, in the post-apocalyptic nation of Panem, chosen young ones are forced to engage in an epic deathmatch that is broadcast to an audience.

Saw

"I want to play a game." Jigsaw was one ruthless and calculated serial killer who tortured people he believed were guilty of crimes and had to pay. His twisted and horrific games saw his victims "playing" for survival, begging for clues, and if they didn't play well, it was game over! Every game was dark and gory and most of his victims never stood a chance of surviving at all.

The Bird Box

In this dystopian thriller, which is based on the novel of the same name, people begin to commit suicide after seeing a dark force that shows them their worst fears. The only way to survive is to stay blindfolded and not look at this dark force. The "chosen" ones begin to take the law into their own hands and force others to "look", and if they refuse, they're brutally killed.

Truth or Dare

In this fascinating Blumhouse horror, a group of friends get wrapped up in a deadly game of truth or dare. They have to follow the rules of the game, even if it means breaking the law, betraying one another, or killing each other in order to survive! This movie will make you think twice before engaging in a simple game of truth or dare.

Lawless

This action movie starring Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, and Gary Oldman is based on the true-life story of the Bondurant brothers. The movie focuses on the rebellious outlaw brothers who engage in moonshine and bootlegging operations. When their business is threatened by local authorities, they take the law into their own hands. There's nothing they won't do in the name of their "law".
