Legacy S1 Gordon Price

M-Net viewers won’t have to wait too long to become embroiled in the intrigue of the channel’s much-anticipated first local telenovela. Legacy will hit our screens on Monday, 21 September, and the dazzling story about a super-rich family at war with itself will play out on Mondays to Thursdays at 19:00.

Each episode will be 30-minutes long.

To date, M-Net has revealed that Legacy, set in an opulent investment world, revolves around the loaded Price family, the down-to-earth Potgieters, and the movers and shakers who are part of Sebastian Price’s multi-million rand investment empire.

Sebastian is about to retire as CEO and everyone – from company stakeholders to politicians, business associates, family members, and those watching the Price’s own commercial television channel – are waiting anxiously to see who will take over the reins. Rest assured, several ambitious players are waiting in the wings to nail the competition.

Will the next CEO be a family member? He has three daughters with his ex-wife Angelique, of which first-born Felicity is an excellent candidate. She is the current COO. Sebastian’s second wife, Dineo, is also a go-getter, and it makes sense that their son, SJ, will follow in his father’s footsteps.

But they are not the only Prices in the clan. Meet Sebastian’s younger brother, Gordon. He has spent his entire life in his older brother’s shadow and is reaping the benefits of Sebastian’s accomplishments. Being able to enjoy a lovely lifestyle he didn’t earn himself, it’s easy for Gordon to be the heart and glue of the Price family.

The charming Gordon is portrayed by another beloved South African personality, esteemed multi-award-winning scriptwriter, director, producer, actor, and presenter Neil McCarthy. Neil penned a number of plays in the eighties, for which he won multiple awards for.  Soon afterwards, he co-wrote and directed the successful local sitcom Going Up, featuring June van Merch and the late Joe Mafela and Rex Garner. In 2002, he was a producer on M-Net’s first reality show Big Brother and also acted in a number of television series and films. Most will remember him as the pleasant presenter of Top Billing who wormed his way into the hearts of many South Africans, introducing us to a lot of exciting places in the world. Later in his career, he became one of the most sought-after writers. He was one of the creators and executive head writer for Isidingo, and subsequently co-created and head-wrote shows like Rhythm CityIsibaya (head writer) and SABC 2’s Lithapo.

Legacy is created and produced by the award-winning Tshedza Pictures. The phenomenal ensemble cast includes Deon Lotz, Michelle Botes, Kgomotso Christopher, Mary-anne Barlow, Reandi Grey, Jay Anstey, Anton David Jeftha, Dawid Minnaar, Sean-Marco Voster, Trix Vivier, Siyabonga Thwala, Leeanda Reddy, and Don Mlangeni Nawa.
