Singer, dancer, movie star and now television lead, is there any entertainment role Jennifer Lopez hasn’t conquered? Shades of Blue, a brand new crime drama set in NYC, is the reason for Lopez slipping into the latter role.
Like many big names on the small screen, this is hardly her first foray into television. The top-earning actress also appeared in spin-off show Hotel Malibu, sketch comedy In Living Colour, crime drama Second Chances and dramedy South Central, before making a more permanent move to the world of movies.
In Shades of Blue Lopez plays Harlee Santos, an NYPD detective working with the FBI, battling personal financial problems, while trying to raise a child alone.
Another female detective in the fold is Tess Nazario, played by Drea de Matteo. Wondering why she looks so familiar? That’s probably because you’ve watched her in Desperate Housewives, Sons of Anarchy, Joey and The Sopranos.
Joining Lopez and de Matteo is another face you’re sure to recognise. Cast as Lieutenant Bill Wozniak is Ray Liotta, renowned for his role as Henry Hill in Goodfellas. He’s also no stranger to playing a member of law enforcement, having taken on a detective role for Narc, Hero Wanted, The River Sorrow, Cop Land and, Observe and Report.
