Disney Cookabout is returning for season 2 on Disney Channel (DStv Channel 101)! The new season will premiere on Saturday 14 October at 09:25.
Having won a SAFTA award in 2015 for Best Children’s Programme, Disney Cookabout sees a comedic cuisine adventure. Cookabout is Disney Africa’s second local long-form series. From food prep to cooking and outside exploration, the show promotes healthy eating with a focus on using fresh, local ingredients.
Produced by Penguin Films, the new season will see locally-farmed, fresh produce in 18 episodes of fun. Kids can learn more about food they see in supermarkets and at home. Cooktestants and viewers will be presented with themes and a location in each episode, to learn from and have fun around. Delicious recipes, local and international cuisines and various flavours will be brought in during each episode for a tasty journey of discovery. From traditional Xhosa dishes to spicy Indian meals, each offering will be paired with an equally breath-taking location.
Season 2 of Disney Cookabout will see hosts Kirsten Mohamed and Mthunzi Ntoyi return. Joined by a group of cooktestants of various ages, they will travel through the Western Cape to experience food in many fun ways. Given supplies, they will then attempt to recreate the dishes in the incredible Cookabout Kitchen where anything is possible with appliances, doors and drawers that respond or open with voice commands.
After the hard work of preparation and recreation is done, the cooktestants will find out how they’ve fared. Will they take home the Silver Spoon? Only time will tell during each episode.
Viewers at home can keep their eyes peeled for new Mickey Mouse animated shorts that will continue to be added into the mix, creating tons of fun if you’re watching from the comfort of your couch.
