While there can be only one crowned champion for each of DStv’s most cutthroat reality shows, the secret is that the real winner is us – the audience – as we get to see their incredible feats of expertise as they’re pushed to the limit.

Love music? It’s the Idols SA season 17 finale this month, along with the European Music Awards (EMAs), UNISA National Strings Competition, and Carla Mackenzie hosts the best episodes of one of our favourite local music competition series in Musiekpaniek Se Bestes.

Got that baking and cooking bug? There are so many delicious reality competitions coming your way this November, from the tie-breaking season 3 of Buddy vs. Duff, to Cakealikes, to the brand-new Come Dine With Me South Africa season 7, MasterChef season 17 and more.

It’s the final showdown between this season’s top-3 contestants… and Idols SA’s first-ever all-female finale line-up. Karabo, Berry and S’22Kile have all wowed the judges but in reality show spirit, only 1 can win. We can’t wait to see who makes the cut, and who gets their throat as South Africa votes for its fave.

Survivor Australia: All Stars Season 7

In Australia’s first-ever All Stars season, 24 returning contestants complete to find the best of the best. Look out for several upsets this season, including a family emergency that sends one Survivor home, and a surprise host at the reunion who had to step in because of Jonathan LaPaglia’s COVID travel issues.

Come Dine With Me South Africa Season 7

In each episode of this competitive dining series, four amateur chefs take turns hosting a dinner party at their own home for the other three, and the best host wins money. Casting started in May 2021 in Johannesburg and Cape Town, so this season is as fresh as a peppermint tart.

MasterChef Season 17

Judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace put 40 of the UK’s talented amateur cooks through their paces to see what they’ve picked up during lockdown. This season was filmed during the middle of the pandemic, so instead of the contestants going to cook at other restaurants, those establishments’ head chefs will take over the MasterChef kitchen.

Got the gift of the gab? Get ready for SA’s most intense job interview! In this reality competition series, a Pretoria-based car dealership in search of a sales super-agent presents 14 contestants with a series of challenges as they compete for the position and bragging rights.
