Cakealikes, Guessable? MasterChef season 17 and more reality series starting on DStv this week

If you like reality series about talent, hard work and the thrill of victory, this is your week on DStv!

MasterChef Season 17 kicks things off on BBC Lifestyle (DStv channel 174) with a new batch of amateur chefs who want to make it big in the culinary world. And then viewers are in for a special treat with Food Network’s (DStv channel 175) Cakealikes, in which bakers are pushed to their limits in when they must make life-sized versions of celebs… out of cake.

Games show fans can tune into the brand-new game show Guessable? on Comedy Central (DStv channel 122) in which celebs compete in classical family games with a twist.

And fishing and mining guys are out to strike it rich this season in dangerous waters in Wicked Tuna North vs. South S8 and Gold Rush: White Water Season 5.

MasterChef Season 17

Judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace put 40 of the UK’s talented amateur cooks through their paces to see what they’ve picked up during lockdown. This season was filmed during the middle of the pandemic, so instead of the contestants going to cook at other restaurants, those establishments’ head chefs will take over the MasterChef kitchen.

Guessable? Season 1

Sara Pascoe hosts this fun panel show that puts a twist on classic family games. Alan Davies and Darren Harriott captain two teams of celebrities competing to identify who or what is inside a mystery box.

Cakealikes Season 1

Gold Rush: White Water Season 5

Gold miner Fred Hurt and his son, Dustin, dive beneath Alaska's wild Cahoon Creek on their new claim in search of their fortune. This season, Fred and Dustin are splitting up to double their chances of striking it rich, but the wilderness is fighting back, and the site is an engineering nightmare.

Wicked Tuna North vs. South Season 8

The fishermen of Gloucester wrestle their living from the sea, one giant bluefin tuna at a time. Seven southern boats travel to the Outer Banks to risk rough seas, shifting sand bars and freezing cold. But Rasta Rocket, one of the smaller boats, reaches out for help when the storm threatens to overwhelm them.
