Viewers can look forward to a double bill of new Mzansi Magic shows on DStv Compact, starting with The Makhenes, serving up celebrity family reality in an intimate, engaging format, alongside the return of the hit drama series Is’thembu sika Msongelwa for a gripping second season filled with intrigue and emotional twists. Over on Moja Love, a brand-new show Ungifihleleni will have audiences hooked from the very first episode. Football fans are equally in for a treat, with the iconic Soweto Derby delivering a crucial late-season clash in the Betway Premiership, while the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals promise heavyweight matchups and blockbuster moments on Europe’s biggest stage.

The Makhenes

A reality series that opens an intimate window into one of South Africa’s most recognisable families. At the centre is actress and musician Letoya Makhene, who invites viewers into her world as she navigates life as a mother, a public figure, and a spiritual healer. Her journey anchors the series, while the stories of her family, including her father, musician Blondie Makhene, and her sisters Pauline and Gontse, unfold alongside hers, revealing deeply personal struggles, unresolved tensions, and moments of transformation.

Isithembu Sika Msongelwa S2 Mzansi Magic

Is’thembu Sika Msongelwa

The drama series follows polygamous taxi owner Msongelwa (played by Andile Mxakaza), who attempts to dissolve his marriage and become monogamous after reconnecting with his high school sweetheart. However, his plan quickly unravels when his three wives refuse to let him go. Msongelwa’s wives are portrayed by Nompumelelo Vilakazi (Senzeni), Phumzile Mlangeni (MaMzobe), and Thandeka Shangase (Phathekile), with Nosipho Pehlo as his rekindled love interest, Asanda.

Sengizwile Bo!

A powerful reality series that gives a voice to individuals who have experienced gender-based violence. The show creates a structured platform for survivors to confront their abusers in a controlled and mediated environment. With the goal of accountability, dialogue and intervention, it facilitates difficult but necessary conversations, while offering support and guidance throughout the process.

Ungifihleleni is a show that helps people who have been hidden in relationships or families to come forward and reveal themselves. This may include a hidden child introducing themselves to their father’s family or a secret partner revealing their relationship.

F.Y.P. takes tracks from algorithm-driven feeds and transforms online music buzz into a high-energy studio experience, hosted by Lerai Rakoditsoe and Teboho “Fresh by Caddy” Tsotetsi. Rakoditsoe was the first African to host a show on Nickelodeon Africa, while Tsotsetsi is a YFM DJ who played Sanele in M-Net’s telenovela Legacy and has featured in GQ’s Best Dressed of the year list. BASE Pulse is a new DStv channel run by channel manager Kgomotso Lakaje, the former head of programming for MTV Base.
