Why do I need a router, what does it do?
A router creates a WiFi hotspot at your usage address. You can then link your devices (laptop, phone, Smart TV and more) to the hotspot to enjoy DStv Internet. Some FLTE are interchangeable please check our listing of approved routers on the website.
Can I use any router?
No, only approved routers can be used. Please visit dstv.com for the list of approved routers, which include: FLTE - ZTE MF286 C
Can I install the DStv Router myself?
FLTE – routers are pre-programmed and don’t need installation.
What should I do if I experience poor FLTE coverage?
Our routers are portable (you can move the router around your home to see if coverage improves). You can also add an outdoor antenna.
Can I use my FLTE SIM card in my phone?
No, the FLTE SIM card is only for use with our approved routers. If you insert the SIM card into your mobile phone, the service will be locked.
How many users can connect to my router?
It’s important to note that the number of users will impact your internet performance and speed. Our routers allow for up to 64 devices to be connected at any one time.
