Why isn’t the Showmax programme I streamed available on DStv Explora for viewing at a later stage?
Showmax works differently to DStv Catch Up. When you stream a programme on DStv Catch Up, it is saved to the hard drive of the DStv Explora and is available for you to watch again at a later stage. When you stream a programme on Showmax, it does not save to the hard drive of the DStv Explora.
Do I have to pay extra to get Catch Up?
No, Catch Up is available to all our subscribers. You can either stream online (via our website or using the DStv app). If you are using a PVR, there is an Access Fee when using features making use of the hard drive (which includes Catch Up).
Why can I download some Catch Up but only stream others on your app?
The options made available to you are determined by the licencing agreements we have with our content suppliers.
What internet connection do I need to use the DStv Stream app?
Although you can use our app on any internet connection, we recommend an uncapped connection with a minimum line speed of 4Mbps, and a line speed of 10Mbps if streaming HD content. Please make sure you are aware of your data charges, as we cannot be held responsible for high data bills when using the app.
How can I control the amount of data used by the DStv Stream app?
The app includes settings where you can select the video quality (ranging from low quality to highest).

You can either download the DStv Stream app from your app store or you can login to our website to stream live TV channels and watch Catch Up. Yes, we’re making it easier to take up DStv Stream. Before, you could only pay for streaming with a debit or credit card. Our DStv Stream customers can now use any of the payment methods we accept (other than cash). These include instant EFT, Snapscan, Masterpass and more.
