We’re proud that all our customers are able to enjoy the value of being able to stream their favourite DStv channels and shows anywhere, anytime on our world-class platforms.

However, fraud and piracy are a challenge for streaming providers globally.

As part of our ongoing efforts to counteract piracy while continuing to bring you the best viewing experience, we will be introducing measures to keep your viewing experience exclusive.

From 22 March 2022, subscriptions will be limited to streaming DStv on one device at a time. 

What change is being made to the DStv product offering?
Subscribers will be able to watch one television channel and/or one Catch Up video at a time, on an internet-connected device from 22 March 2022. 

When is this change taking place?
This change will be effective from 22 March 2022.

Why are you making this change?
It’s one of many ongoing measures to counteract fraud and piracy.

Does this change apply to all DStv subscriptions?
Yes, the change will be made to all DStv subscriptions across Africa.

How will this change affect me if I stream DStv?
This change will only affect subscribers who watch DStv through more than one internet-connected device at the same time.
Subscribers will now only be able to watch DStv on one internet-connected device at a time.

Does this mean only one person can be logged in at a time?
No, only the number of people who can watch DStv through an internet-connected device at the same time will be limited. 

Does this impact offline viewing, where I can watch the content I’ve previously downloaded?
No, subscribers and their loved ones can still access the offline viewing feature on more than one internet-connected device at a time.

Does this impact the devices I have registered for streaming?
No, the number of internet connected devices you can have registered to watch DStv does not change. You will now only be limited to watch DStv on one internet-connected device at a time.
This means that you can have multiple internet-connected devices registered but will only be able to watch DStv on one of the internet-connected devices at a time.

Is there any change to pricing because of this change?
No.

Will this impact Showmax customers?
No, this change only applies when streaming DStv.
