Kendrick Lamar will be making a splashy return to the charts with the release of his highly anticipated 4th studio album. The Grammy award-winning rapper, who typically keeps a low profile in between his records, delighted fans when he made the announcement on Twitter this past Monday.

He also shared a link to his website, where he furnished fans with further details on the tape, which will premiere on 13 May 2022. And unlike Kanye West, who is notorious for constant delays on his album drops, fans have every reason to believe life will never be the same after the second week of May.

The rapper revealed that the album - a follow-up to a Grammy award-winning record that saw him win a Pulitzer Prize for his exceptional work with the pen, is entitled Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. Although rumours of an early retirement hit the social media streets last week, it looks like Lamar will not be leaving the building anytime soon. He first teaseed the album, at the time only dubbed the "final TDE album", on a website launched in August 2021.

At the time, he accompanied the tease with the note; May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators. As I continue to pursue my life’s calling. “There’s beauty in completion. And always faith in the unknown.” We now know that Kendrick's highly buzzed return is officially on the cards.

This comes as a relief since the rapper has slowed the pace since his last studio album. Though he's since curated the Black Panther soundtrack, appeared at Coachella as the main attraction while scoring an Oscar nod and tossing out a number of features, scoops have been far and few in between.
