ProVerb has been the host of Idols SA for a long time, and it’s co-producer for almost as long as that. His career started after making a name for himself as an MC by winning a few rap battles on the radio. He leveraged this into a diploma in sound engineering and became a technical producer for DJ Fresh in 2003 and landed a presenting gig on Channel O’s Head Rush.
He released his widely respected debut album, The Book of ProVerb, in 2005, and followed this up with numerous mixtapes, albums and assorted collaborations.
His interests range wide – other than music radio production and TV presenting, he also has a passion for property – earning himself assorted qualifications in that field – and his ownership stake in SIC Entertainment means he is a co-producer of the show that he presents, Idols SA.
He has been the face of the show for going on 13 years and has provided a great sense of continuity. Contestants look up to him, and he’s often been a much-needed shoulder to cry on when the judges have been less-than-impressed with a performance.
