Premiering on 10 April at 8.00 pm on Maisha Magic Plus on DStv channel 163 and on GOtv Supa Channel 8 is the Kenyan first-ever Showmax original series, Crime and Justice. The epic series has been critically acclaimed for addressing difficult and topical issues in the country such as femicide and domestic violence, terrorism attacks, radicalism, whilst also exposing the limits of the judicial system. Each 45-minute episode gives an artistic stroke which promises to keep viewers glued to their screens from beginning to end for the next 8 weeks.

The drama series narrates headlining investigations by fictional Nairobi Metropol Police led by the dedicated detective duo- Silas played by Alfred Manyua and the goal-oriented Makena, played by Sarah Hassan.

Other notable featured cast include the award-winning Paul Ogola (plays Sokoro) who is also a recipient of the Best Actor Award in the Kenyan Theatre Awards ‘Sanaa Awards’ and two-time nominee in the Kalasha TV and Film International Awards East Africa. Viewers can also expect to be graced by the highly decorated Maqbul who featured in the 2007 popular Kenyan soap opera "Makutano”. Maqbul plays the role of Kebo, the DCI boss and last but not least Justin Mirichii who plays the eloquent and articulate defense lawyer. Mirichii is a recipient of the 2016 Best Actor award for the 48 hour Film Project (Nairobi).

Viewers can expect to be drawn into an epic whirlwind in the first episode as Detective Silas and Makena investigate the death of a pregnant university student who had been having an affair with a powerful politician, hinting on a 2018 case with similar elements. The other episodes draw inspiration from crimes that have caused national outrage but remain unresolved, or that the public feels didn’t not get justice by the judicial system.

“With 100% top local Kenyan talent featuring on the show, Crime and Justice builds in our culture and mission of showcasing the best of local entertainment, made by us for us”, said Margaret Mathore, Channel Head.
