DStv Recurring Payments FAQs
What is a Recurring Payment?
Recurring payment is an automatic, scheduled deduction from your registered credit or debit card that covers your monthly DStv subscription fee and any additional charges. It ensures your service is never interrupted and you don't have to worry about manual payments.
How do I set up my recurring payment?
You only need to set it up once! During registration on our self-service platform, simply choose your preferred debit/credit card and enable the recurring payment option. On your due date, the system will automatically deduct your subscription fee; no manual action is needed from you.
Why is MultiChoice offering this digital recurring payment option?
We want to make your subscription process as smooth and simple as possible. This hassle-free, automated approach ensures timely payments, continuous service delivery, and more active viewing days for you.
Can I set up recurring payments if my account is inactive or disconnected?
No, you must first reactivate your DStv account by making a full, once-off payment for your outstanding subscription. Once your account is active, you can then set up the recurring payment.
What does it cost to use this automatic payment method?
This service is offered to you at no extra cost. You only pay your standard subscription fee.
What information do I need to set this up?
You will need to provide valid credit or debit card details and authenticate them through our secure process to confirm they are correct.
Why should I choose the digital recurring payment option?
Recurring payments offer a reliable, seamless, and secure way to manage your subscription.
- Convenience: Recurring payments make it easy for customers to pay their subscriptions on time without needing to remember manual payments each month. This saves time and helps them avoid late payment fees that could affect their DStv subscription.
- Control: Customers can set up recurring payments to automatically pay for their subscriptions while retaining the ability to cancel or update their payment information at any time.
- Security: Recurring payments are secure, as they are encrypted and stored on secure servers. This protects customers’ financial information from fraud and identity theft.
How do I update or change my card details?
Simply log in to the MyDStv App or our website, go to Manage Recurring Payments, and update your payment details immediately. Always ensure your card details are current and have sufficient funds.
What is the amount charged for card verification?
The deduction is strictly for card verification and is immediately credited to your DStv account to be used as a top-up for your subscription.
- Zimbabwe: ZWL$1
- Botswana: BWP1
- Ethiopia: USD$1
- Nigeria: NGN100
If I replace my card, will the old card be automatically removed?
Yes. The old card details will be automatically deleted from the system once the new card is successfully added and verified.
Can I set up recurring payments for more than one DStv account?
Yes, you can set up recurring payments for multiple accounts, but you must complete the setup process for each account individually through the self-service platform.
What happens if a payment fails?
If a payment is unsuccessful (due to an expired card, insufficient funds, or incorrect details), you remain responsible for the outstanding amount. MultiChoice is authorised to retry the payment collection, even after the original due date.
Can I cancel recurring payments?
Yes, you have full control. You can cancel your recurring payment before your next Billing Date via the MyDStv App or the DStv website. Cancelling stops future deductions, but you can still pay for your subscription via a once-off payment.
Will I be charged a fee if I cancel recurring payments?
No, there are no cancellation fees. You can stop recurring payments at any time via the self-service platform.
Is the digital recurring payment secure?
Yes, all transactions are secure, and your customer data is fully protected.
If I pay this month using another method (like EFT or USSD), will the system still deduct a recurring payment?
No. The recurring payment system will only trigger a deduction if there is an outstanding amount due on your payment date. If your subscription is already paid, the deduction will be skipped for that cycle.
When is the payment deducted in relation to my service?
Deductions for recurring payments are scheduled to occur on the payment due date, while your service is still active, to ensure you enjoy continuous, uninterrupted viewing.
