2020 may have left many artists navigating a tough landscape. And with the global political upheaval, an even tougher world to be releasing music that will fit with the times.

Common though, is not new to this. With a sprawling catalogue that has found him engaging sociopolitical issues in his critically acclaiming works, the rapper and award-winning actor has made a triumphant return to the charts with a new body of work. Entitled A Beautiful Revolution Pt 1, Common's freshly released EP is a reflection of the times.

The new project has been described as a digging "deep  into the actions of protests and civil rights movements with an adventurous sonic signature that ties together the legacies of various revolutionary Black musical movements, including jazz, soul, afrobeat, and hip-hop."

On the tape, Common has worked with the likes of a Black Thought on 'Say Peace', as well as Lenny Kravitz on 'A Riot in My Mind'. He's also worked with the likes of Robert Grasper, amongst others, on the production. Alongside Black Thought, Lenny Kravitz and his backing band, A Beautiful Revolution Pt 1 also features contributions from hip-hop/rap icon Chuck D and the legendary Stevie Wonder.
