Before they walked into the house, we asked the Big Brother Titans housemates what life event first made them realise that they were the main character in their own lives. The answers were diverse.

“Honestly, immediately after I got into university.”
While it always makes us nervous when people start an answer with, “honestly” (why, were you lying up until this point?), we get what he means, here. University is one of those opportunities in life that make you question everything about yourself and appreciate the fact that you are improving yourself. It’s not the only chance to do so, of course, but it certainly is one of the key stages of life.

“I always knew that I was a star; always the centre of attention.”
Okay, Blue Aiva’s got it all together.
Ebubu
“Last year, when my life almost went downhill.”
That “almost” is the most intriguing part of that sentence. Pity he didn’t explain what happened.

“When I lost my dad … my mum and siblings were there for me, ensuring my dreams stayed valid.”
Yoh. Touching.

“When I got my first paying job after struggling for years and years!”
Yes! We feel this, hard! When you get that first paycheque because you’re doing something of value, it’s a great feeling. It helps you feel like a contributing member of society.

“When I was 14-years-old.”
And you wrestled a bear? What happened? We feel like you buried the lead.

“When I dropped out of school. I had to go through that phase of my life.”
Hey, whatever gets you there. We’ve had somebody talk about how university showed them meaning, and this is proof that life gives you plenty of meaning, all on its own.

Okay, interesting. A recent event. Recent, but mysterious.

“When I stopped caring about what others thought of me, and when I stopped being a people-pleaser.”
Don’t get us wrong – caring about other people is a good thing, but we agree with Yvonne. It’s hard to be a good person for other people when you cannot be good for yourself.
