Last night on the Nigerian Idol Live Show ,we got to see exciting performances and also got the ultimate shocker when we realised not one but two Contestants would be Eliminated from the show!
The night started off with a tribute to media industry veteran Onome Oyaide who passed on over the weekend. Present as a Guest Judge was Idol alum Omawumi who was making a second appearance for the Season.
After that solemn moment, the Top 6 opened the floor with a performance of Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars. This set the tone for what was to be a night of beautiful performances.
Before the individual performances, however, IK revealed there would be a double Elimination and proceeded to call on Jordan, Faith and Progress to come on stage. While on stage, IK announced that Faith will not make it to the next round.
After Faith’s Elimination, Progress was called up to perform Wait For Me by Johnny Drille. His performance was lauded by the Judges as being a fantastic rendition, with Omawumi making a joke that Johnny Drille was probably jealous of his rendition. Missed his performance? Watch it below.
Next up was Jordan who gave a performance of Airplane Mode by Fireboy Dml. His performance was also applauded by the Judges, with Simi commenting that his song choice definitely helped in enhancing the tone of his voice. Watch Jordan’s performance from the Live Show below.
After the first set of performances, Banty, Itohan and Zadok were called up on stage for the next round of Elimination. After an immense bout of tension, IK announced Itohan as the next Contestant to be Eliminated. Following his announcement, Zadok took to the stage to perform The Vow by Timi Dakolo. His performance got him a standing ovation from the Judges with D’banj giving him credit for being a good performer. Watch Zadok’s performance from the Live Show below.
Banty was up next on stage with a performance of Bibanke by Asa. The Judges noted she wasn’t as tense as she was in previous performances and that she delivered like she ought to.
After the Top 4 had wrapped up their performances, Faith and Itohan who had been Eliminated earlier, took over the stage with Faith going first with a performance of Jailer by Asa, and Itohan performing Beggie Beggie by Ayra Starr.
