On Saturday, all roads led to Big Brother Naija season 10’s first Saturday Night Turn Up.
For the first ‘gbedu wey dey burst brain’, the housemates were pretty hyped and anticipatory, like kids waiting for Santa’s gifts on New Year’s Eve. The day felt like time was going by slowly, and so the housemates decided to occupy themselves ahead of the prime moment, engaging in quiet conversations, personal tasks, and group games.
Big Soso wanted to be a part of the group games, but her voice wasn’t given an audience.
Offended, she confided in Joanna, explaining that she had been trying to avoid offending certain housemates, a resolution born from a recent game where she felt sidelined and silenced. Later, she found a moment of solace with Tracy, admitting she had been crying earlier, not out of anger but from feeling cornered, and fighting against it. Tracy listened empathetically, and the two shared a hug, a quiet moment of reconciliation that seemed to mend a minor rift.
Elsewhere, Isabella and Kayikunmi had a serious chat about networking and professional connections. Isabella shared valuable advice with Kayikunmi, guiding him on his goals and offering insights into how to navigate the world outside the Big Brother house.
Meanwhile, Mensan and Tracy found a quiet corner to discuss the complexities of their time in the house. Mensan reflected on a recent apology from Otega before sharing his perspective on the dynamics within the house, stating that Biggie was their ultimate guide, and that everyone should simply live their own lives.
He voiced his frustration about being labelled “the problem” after a past confrontation, insisting he was just being himself while others, in his words, started performing for the cameras. Tracy, in a lighter moment, chimed in, saying that Imisi's distinctive look was all part of her brand, a sentiment Mensan agreed with, noting that Big Brother brought different types of people into the house to appeal to a diverse audience.
The atmosphere changed the moment Biggie's first track hit the speakers. Sultana couldn't contain her excitement, immediately breaking into dance in the kitchen. Then, when Biggie asked the housemates to go prepare for the night, the ladies began their transformation; Mide and Doris got on wig straightening duties, Imisi diligently sewed her wig, Ivatar meticulously applied her makeup, and the rest sorted their outfits. The guys, on the other hand, ended up in the kitchen, rallied to cook a pre-party meal.
Moments before the golden hour, soft love showed up. Kola helped Dede with her wig, and Rooboy, in a playful act of kindness, offered his "extra self" to help Mide with her hair. Even Doris and Kola found a moment to discuss their party strategies, talking about how they planned to "show up" and make their presence felt.
Finally, with their bellies full and their looks perfected, the housemates were ready to slay the dancefloor, where DJ Phatt unleashed a stunning blend of Nigeria’s most notable dancefloor fillers and hits from all over the world. And, as we all know by now, all eyes ought to be on the aftermath of Biggie’s uptempo session!
