What ‘Flying Solo’ means in BBNaija S10

While the idiom typically means operating independently without reliance on others, in BBNaija Season 10, Big Brother has redefined it as a structured challenge for housemates.
Housemates are encouraged to reflect on their own identities and showcase personal skills. They are also challenged to demonstrate independence despite performing in groups, balancing self-preservation with collective success.

Moments of ‘Flying Solo’ in BBNaija S10

Even before Week 8 officially kicked off, several housemates had already displayed strong independent streaks. Between weeks 3 and 8, notable solo moves have shaped house dynamics, stirred up fan debates, and shifted strategies.

One of the most talked-about moments came from Koyin, the former Head of House. During the transition from Week 7 to Week 8, he secretly removed his phone battery during a shared charging task, insisting he was “not there when Biggie said we are to share.” This act drew mixed reactions, with some housemates accusing him of selfishness while others admired his boldness.

His streak of independence continued during the Travel Beta Task, where he dramatically crashed a simulated plane, leaving his teammates Sultana, Kuture, Mide, and Joanna in disbelief. The incident was humorous for viewers, but also highlighted Koyin’s tendency to prioritise his own game over team harmony. On social media, the move sparked the “Justice for Koyin” trend, cementing his reputation as a housemate unafraid to fly solo.

Another standout case of independence was Imisi, who entered the house without a strong alliance, but has increasingly proven her resilience. During the Travel Beta Task, she secured the most valuable prize –  a fully sponsored international trip, while competing as part of the Hotel Team alongside Kola, Bright Morgan, Kaybobo, and Rooboy. Yet, Imisi’s solo streak went beyond wins; she made headlines when she felt excluded from food-sharing arrangements and declared, “I’m eating by myself and that’s what I will do.” .

Meanwhile, Jason Jae demonstrated his independence through his unpredictable approach to relationships. Rather than settling into a single ship, he openly floated between connections, sometimes leaving Sultana “alone” at parties, while at other times entertaining Joanna in viral clips. Despite criticism from shippers, Jason Jae excelled individually in the Travel Beta Task with his TIP Team (Thelma, Mensan, and Denari). His charisma and carefree approach reinforced his image as a “lover boy with a wild side” who thrives best when cruising solo.

The “Flying Solo” energy also extended into the general house dynamics, as several housemates reassessed their alliances. Kaybobo initially allowed himself to be used by Isabella, Thelma, and Bright for visibility, but later pivoted to a more independent strategy.

The fake eviction twist saw Rooboy, Dede, and Joanna return to the house, further intensifying individual reflections. In their diary sessions back then, they admitted to missing family and recognised the importance of focusing on personal growth rather than relying solely on house bonds. Other housemates, such as Mensan and Kaybobo, also used these moments to reflect on leadership voids and solo survival strategies, underscoring the season’s gradual shift from group play to individual resilience.

Why ‘Flying Solo’ matters this season

BBNaija Season 10 began with a heavy emphasis on pairs and alliances, but as the finale draws nearer, the Week 8 theme signals a decisive pivot towards individual strategies. It’s a chance to see which housemates can shine on their own, outside the safety of ships or alliances. And for housemates, it’s the perfect reminder that in the end, only one person walks away with the prize.

Whether you stan Koyin’s boldness, Imisi’s dangbana spirit, Jason Jae’s flirty freedom, or the quieter solo plays of Kaybobo and Thelma Lawson, Week 8 promises more drama, surprises, and raw emotion as housemates navigate independence in Biggie’s house.

All housemates are up for possible eviction this week, with the exception of Head of House Zita, Most Influential Player Of The Week Faith, Imisi, who has Red Envelope Immunity, and Rooboy, who was saved by the HoH via tree of trinkets. You have until this Thursday at 22:00 WAT (23:00 CAT) to vote for your favourite 10/10 housemate. Watch BB Naija season 10 live 24/7, on DStv Channel 198GOtv Channel 49, and on Showmax.
