Shadaya Zaher wears many hats. She's a singer, songwriter, actress, host and model who's slowly (but surely) growing to become Zambia's leading music superstar.
Her original name Shadia means 'she sings' in Arabic and she has lived up to her name. Ever since she officially kicked off her music career four years ago, she has produced some smash hits such as 'Bad Energy', 'No Money No Honey', 'Mad Over You', and 'Like Dat'.
'Oxygen', a music video that Shadaya collaborated with Petersen Zagaze, is one of the videos that shot her to fame. She has also shared the stage with international acts such as Wizkid, Tekno and Jidenna.
Shadaya was born in the capital of Zambia, Lusaka and her mom is Zambian with an Indian background while her father is Lebanese. From a tender age, Shadaya loved to sing – often comparing herself to the divas she saw in music videos. At the age of 16, she started recording music but had to cut of her music career to pursue her studies. She jetted off to Malaysia to study hospitality and when she returned to Zambia, she continued to pursue her music career whilst working as an events planner.
Catch Shadaya on Zed Top Ten this Friday at 21h00 only on One Zed Tv GOtv channel 8.
