Nampindi’s Mothers: Three Women, Three Worlds – Inkondo

News02 March 2026
From the quiet strength of Maala village to the drama of Lusaka’s mansion, Nampindi’s mother figures each bring their own power, secrets, and chaos to Inkondo.
Inkondo

When it comes to family dynamics in Inkondo, nothing is ever simple, especially when three very different women share the title of “mother” in Nampindi’s world. From nurturing protectors to controversial stepmothers, Mubanga, Namani, and Lillian Machila represent three completely different worlds, each shaping Nampindi’s journey in their own way.

The Protector: Mubanga Machila

Living in the heart of Maala village, Mubanga Machila (played by Nalukui Mufungulwa Muchindu) is the calm and compassionate presence in the Machila family. As Chiyumba Machila’s first wife, she has always put the family’s wellbeing first.

Mubanga treats Nampindi and Haanta as her own children, guiding them with patience and love. She played an important role during Nampindi’s Nkolola coming-of-age ceremony, ensuring that tradition and family values remained strong. When Nampindi began experiencing strange moments hinting at a possible spiritual gift, Mubanga stood by her side, offering support and understanding rather than fear.

After Machila’s death, Mubanga works closely with his sister Kasuwa, determined to protect the Machila legacy, even if it means standing firm against those she doesn’t trust, especially Lillian.

The Strict but Cool One: Namani Machila

Also living in Maala village, Namani Machila (played by Mutinta Martha Hacuma) is Machila’s second wife and arguably the most entertaining one. Strict, outspoken, and proudly convinced she is Machila’s most beautiful wife, Namani keeps everyone on their toes.

She may be tough on Nampindi and Haanta at times, but her intentions come from a place of care. Namani shares a strong bond with Mubanga, and together they often keep the household grounded. When Nampindi began showing signs of unusual spiritual experiences, Namani also stepped in to support her.

Her sharp tongue, occasional smoking habits, and unexpectedly funny moments make her one of the more unpredictable personalities in the family.

The Wild Card: Lillian Machila

Then there’s Lillian Machila (played by Mutinta Mari), the youngest wife who lives a very different life in Lusaka’s luxurious mansion. Unlike the village wives, Lillian has little patience for traditional living and openly looks down on them.

Vain, ambitious, and unapologetically self-interested, Lillian’s choices have shaken the Machila family to its core. After Machila’s supposed death, she quickly married Devon and moved him into the family mansion,  a decision that caused shockwaves.

Her complicated relationships don’t end there. From pushing Nampindi into uncomfortable situations to enabling Haanta’s reckless lifestyle, Lillian’s influence often creates chaos rather than stability.

With three women pulling the family in different directions, Nampindi’s life is anything but ordinary. Whether offering guidance, discipline, or drama, these three “mothers” continue to shape the future of the Machila family and the unfolding story of Inkondo.
