Dreams is finally on our screens and following the launch episode on Thursday 23 November, we're adamant that it's set to be Zambia's next big show.
Kicking off in Zambia's second largest city, Kitwe, the Copperbelt proved that they have talent and are determined to go far in the competition. The premiere episode saw one of the judges, Kuni shedding a few tears after Mwaka Sinyangwe's audition.
"I'm very happy that I felt it in my heart that she could do it and like the song you performed, you rose up," Kuni said. Kuni had changed his mind after last minute, after Mwaka's first audition in his tent but something told him there was more to her.
John Muyanga's Kopala also got the judges excited with his choice of genre, which is a Copperbelt staple but Judge Kenny wasn't too impressed as he insisted that some of the lyrics didn't make sense. Other firm favourites and key moments of the night can be viewed on the Dreams highlights page.
How Auditions Work
- The three judges individually select contestants in the first round.
- Then those who make it through to the second round face all three judges in a final audition the next day.
- If a contestant gets a nod from all three judges, they will make it to Bootcamp.
The Top 3 will be whisked away to South Africa where they will have a chance to visit the highly-acclaimed Sun City in Rustenburg. The trio will also bag thousands of Kwacha as follows; the overall winner will pocket K100 000, the first and second runner up will each get K25 000.
