Zim actress to star in Tupac biopic

14 January 2016
Zimbabwean actress Danai Gurira has been cast to play the iconic role of Afeni Shakur in the Tupac biopic.

Over the years there have been a steady stream of actors and actresses of Zimbabwean heritage to shine bright on the international stage.

In 2016 the latest starlet to raise Zim's flag high is The Walking Dead star, Danai Gurira. The 37 year old actress has been cast to play the iconic role of Tupac's mother, Afeni Shakur in the forthcoming 'All Eyez on Me' biopic about the slain rapper. The role will be no easy task as Afeni was just as revered as her son during her days as a political activist and Black Panther member however with an impressive repertoire both onscreen as well as onstage, Gurira is bound to rise to the occasion.

'All Eyez On Me' will also see Gurira alongside Demetrius Shipp Jr who plays Tupac and Jamal Woolard as the Notorious BIG. Woolard previously starred as Biggie in the 2009 blockbuster, 'Notorious'.

Details about the film's release are yet to be revealed but we're sure fans are waiting with baited breath for it to hit the big screen.

Will you be going to see 'All Eyez On Me' when it comes out?
