This evening on My Story we shine the spotlight on one of Zambia's most prolific musicians.

Miriam ‘Mampi’ Mukape was born in Lusaka, Zambia in 1986 and is an award winning singer and performer. Drawing inspiration from music greats such as Brenda Fassie and Whitney Houston, she began singing in church at the age of six. Discovered at the age of 16 singing in her parent’s backyard by a music producer, Mampi went on to sign her first contract in 2003.

Her rise to the top did not stop at merely awards, in 2012 she breached the television divide and was selected as a contestant for M-Net’s Big Brother All Star competition. She used the television platform to show and promote her talents, a strategy that paid off as the song she released soon after leaving the Big Brother House "Walilowelela," garnered over a million YouTube views, the first for any Zambian song or music video at the time!

The widespread fame of her music and catchy tunes has since resulted in successful international collaborations and a career that remains on the up and up for the musician!

Witness Mampi's journey tonight on My Story at 18:00 on Zambezi Magic, DStv Channel 160.
