Pearl Magic Prime is in the spotlight after receiving a few nominations at this year’s Uganda Film Festival. Two of the channel’s TV shows – Sanyu and Prestige – have been nominated in the Best Drama series category.

But wait, there’s more! Prestige’s Symon Base Kalema received a nomination in the Best Actor in a TV Drama category, while Nana Kagga (Prestige) and Tracy Kababiito (Sanyu) are going head-to-head in the Best Actress in a TV Drama category.

Mistakes Gals Do, which airs on our sister channel, Pearl Magic, has also been nominated in the Best TV Drama category. The show takes viewers through the ups and downs women face in their lives and has been available exclusively on Pearl Magic for three years. What If, which premieres in April, and Chapterz, which is coming to the channel in August, have also been nominated in the Best TV Drama category.

Themed “Rebuilding a Resilient Creative Industry through the Pandemic” this year’s event

kicked off on Monday, 29 March. The festival was launched in 2013 by the Uganda Communications Commission as a way of recognising and celebrating the local film industry. The five-day event features film screenings, an awards night gala, workshops and other activities.

More about the shows:

Prestige

Prestige is a serial drama that follows the tumultuous lives of rival ad executives who happen to be family. It is a story about the quest for power that is fuelled by the very human emotions of love, jealousy, grief, and hatred.

Sanyu

An innocent, rural teenage girl has to leave her family and education behind to do a maid’s job for a complex, wealthy urban family, where she falls for the young son of the house.

You can watch Sanyu every Monday – Friday at 8pm, Prestige every Monday – Friday at 8:30pm on Pearl Magic Prime, DStv channel 148.
