The birth of MaMzobe the villain – Umkhokha: The CurseYoung Kwazi Mthembu denies impregnating young Thenjiwe “MaMzobe” Gumede. They meet later and he tells her he’s going to marry Thabisile “MaNzimande,” which seemingly plants anger in her heart.
Close, but not so close – Umkhokha: The CurseMaNzimande is disturbed when she overhears her husband telling Difa he’d be getting profits from the water deal. She later confronts him about it. MaMzobe is upset when Difa tells her the church elders have changed their mind.
Tragedy befalls Ithempile LeNkosi – Umkhokha: The CurseMaMzobe is ready to strike, and she gets Gabisile to do her dirty work. The church members are shocked when Ithempeli LeNkosi leader Kwazi Mthembu collapses and dies during the church service.
Khulekani is ungovernable – Umkhokha: The CurseKhulekani puts his foot down about the funeral preparations. MaNzimande pulls him aside and gives him a stern warning.
Your father has passed on – Umkhokha: The CurseZisebenzele breaks the terrible of Mvelase’s death to Siphamandla. Khulekani is devasted when he hears of his father’s death. MaMzobe offers her condolences to MaNzimande.
Difa is selected as interim leader – Umkhokha: The CurseThe council members deliberate on who will be the next church leader, and they choose Difa. MaMzobe is excited about the news of her husband being chosen as the interim leader.
Xolile is pregnant – Umkhokha: The CurseGabisile walks in on Xolile while she’s throwing up in her bathroom. She later blurts it out at the breakfast table, but Xolile denies it.
Gabisile stirs up trouble – Umkhokha: The CurseXolile, Nobuntu and Mabusi exchange stares, as MaMzobe vows to deal with whichever of her daughters that would dare to get pregnant before marriage.
Siphamandla is the chosen one – Umkhokha: The CurseMaMzobe makes a quick phone call to Maphalala ahead of Difa’s inauguration. Siphamandla is released from jail and makes a surprise appearance. Difa hands over the reins to Siphamandla.
Mvelase confirms Siphamandla as leader – Umkhokha: The CurseMaNzimande is distraught when Siphamandla returns home drunk. She arranges for Siphamandla to go with Difa to Mvelase’s grave. A miracle happens at Mvelase’s grave.
Xolile commits suicide – Umkhokha: The CurseNgema brings Xolile back home and she gets a stern warning from MaMzobe, who learns that Xolile is actually pregnant. MaMzobe is shocked when she enters Xolile’s room and find her hanging ceiling.
Xolile opposes the forced marriage – Umkhokha: The CurseDifa steps in and tells Xolile she has no choice but to marry Siphamandla. She later breaks the new to a shocked Reggie, before MaMzobe catches then talking.
Reggie discovers Xolile is dead – Umkhokha: The CurseReggie is losing his mind not knowing where Xolile is, so he calls her. He later goes to the Gumede’s, only to be met with tears indicating that she’s dead.
Nobuntu is chosen as the new bride – Umkhokha: The CurseDifa and MaMzobe are pleasantly surprised Nobuntu is delighted to marry Siphamandla. She later meets up with him and he reassures her she’s not forced to marry him.
Nobuntu knows not to mess with MaMzobe – Umkhokha: The CurseMaMzobe finds Nobuntu crying in her room and gloats about how she runs things around the Gumede household. She then rubs it in that they are preparing for Mabusi and Siphamandla’s wedding.
Mabusi rejects Siphamandla – Umkhokha: The CurseMabusi confronts MaMzobe about her plans to marry her off to Siphamandla. The Gumede’s find a surprise gift for Mabusi outside. The car is later returned to the Mthembu’s.
Mabusi’s marriage Ts and Cs – Umkhokha: The CurseSiphamandla invites Mabusi for dinner to win her over. Mabusi lays down the terms and conditions of their marriage.
Siphamandla woos Mabusi – Umkhokha: The CurseMabusi arrives at the hospital to find romantic surprise from Siphamandla. He later opens up to her about his fears at the beach.
Siphamandla weds Mabusi – Umkhokha: The CurseSomething strange happens to Gabisile as she prepares to poison Siphamandla’s food, and she runs out of the kitchen. Meanwhile, Siphamandla and Mabusi dance and rejoice with everybody at their wedding. Zodwa asks Difa if they’d ever tell Mabusi that she is her mother.
Intombi nto – Umkhokha: The CurseMabusi’s virginity is put to the test. MaMzobe and the elders are excited, as it’s proven that Mabusi is pure.
Mabusi fights the system – Umkhokha: The CurseMabusi leaves MaNzimande shocked when she insists she’s going to work. She later returns home to an intervention, where the church council and hospital administrator instruct her to stop going to work.
Khulekani must go – Umkhokha: The CurseMaNzimande calls Khulekani aside after he disrespects Siphamandla. The church council agree that Khulekani should leave the family home, but Siphamandla asks that he deals with the issue himself.
Brother against brother – Umkhokha: The CurseKhulekani storms off, after the church council members reprimand him for his behaviour towards Siphamandla. Siphamandla talks to him later and asks him to attend his ordination.
