Umkhokha: The Curse S1 came in with a brand-new storyline that has kept us glued to our screens since the season premiere on Monday 6 March. Here’s what you can expect this month:
EPISODE 1 – This is who I am
Thenjiwe Mzobe is exposed of being a witch and a liar, and when she desperately tries to prove her innocence, no one believes her, so she resorts to dark thinking to get her revenge, but it leaves gruesome consequences for her father, Bab'Mzobe.
EPISODE 2: Time to grow
MaMzobe takes drastic action with fatal results about a troublesome person. Siphamandla embarrasses the family when he rocks up at the church drunk and seals his fate.
EPISODE 3: Back to fault
MaMzobe is infuriated when she learns that she may have had a man killed for nothing when she loses out on a major deal. Siphamandla returns to his wayward ways and Reggie and Xolile cross a line they will never be able to uncross.
EPISODE 4: Accused
MaMzobe confronts Mthembu about his sabotage and things turn heated between her and MaNzimande. Siphamandla lands into some trouble that sends him straight to jail and a dead body is found in his possession. Reggie and Xolile wake up in each other's arms. Maphalala warns the Mthembus of impending danger, they don’t listen.
EPISODE 5: He is gone
A dark cloud falls over the Mthembu family as Maphalala’s warnings come true and a great member of the family takes his last breath, while Siphamandla stews in jail.
EPISODE 6: Dealing with a broken heart
News of Mthembu’s death break many hearts, while the two women who loved him dearly suffer the most irreparable heartbreak. Xolile and Reggie continue to play with fire.
EPISODE 7: Circling vultures
The vultures are slowly circling in for the church leadership position, ready to snatch it form the Mthembus. MaNzimande grapples with her husband's death and is desperate to have Siphamandla come home.
EPISODE 8: Drunk with power
Khulekani is given interim power and it goes straight to his head like a strong drink. MaMzobe learns of a major secret behind Mthembu's funeral and she's up to her tricks again, using Gabisile. Xolile suspects that she could be pregnant.
EPISODE 9: Farewell Mvelase: Part 1
Khulekani goes out of his way to sideline the family and even tries to hijack Mthembu's funeral. MaMzobe and Gabisile pull out an old classic at the funeral, causing quite a stir, while Xolile's fears that she may be pregnant worsen.
EPISODE 10: Farewell Mvelase: Part 2
Mthembu is buried in secret and Khulekani forces himself to swallow his pride. MaMzobe and Gabisile are up to no good as they pull of an elaborate scheme to sabotage the Mthembus, and Xolile's worst fears come true.
EPISODE 11: Power battle
MaMzobe makes great moves to get Difa installed as the permanent leader of Ithempeli Lenkosi. MaNzimande struggles to get back into normal life now that Mthembu's been buried, while Reggie's frustrated by Xolile's ghosting and he makes great threats to get her attention.
EPISODE 12: Careful what you wish for
MaMzobe learns the hard way to be careful what she wishes for when Mthembu starts to haunt her. MaNzimande is dealt with a nasty blow that they could lose their home and wealth to someone else. Xolile wants to come clean about the pregnancy.
EPISODE 13: Floor crossing
Just when the church's council has taken a decision about who to ordain as the next leader, factions start to form, but MaNzimande makes sure she has the last say. Xolile finds it hard to conceal her pregnancy.
EPISODE 14: Battle of the First Ladies
MaNzimande decides to take matters into her own hands, and she is determined to stop the Gumedes from taking up a permanent position as the leaders of the church, while MaMzobe makes great plans in preparation for her upcoming position as first lady.
EPISODE 15: Bow to your leader
MaMzobe is ready to take up her position as the new queen of the church, but then her moment is short-lived when MaNzimande pulls the rug from under her feet, and presents a surprise that shocks everyone, and Difa also delivers a deadly blow to MaMzobe's plans.
EPISODE 16: The chosen one
When Siphamandla is on the cusp of throwing in the towel regarding the throne, a divine hand reaches out. MaMzobe has one card to play to win back the crown, but it comes with a grave warning.
EPISODE 17: She is to be your wife
Xolile has the rugged pulled from under her feet when she is told that her future is being someone else's wife and not that of Reggie. MaMzobe goes over Difa's decision and head to get her way. Siphmandla decides about his future.
EPISODE 18: The new wife
Reggie finds out some people will do whatever it takes to push their own agendas. After seeing 'positive signs', Siphamandla finally accepts the throne. Gabisile is put in her place although still defiant.
EPISODE 19: By fire, by force
The Mthembus and the Gumedes are excited about the forthcoming lobolo talks and a union between the two families, while MaMzobe keeps yet another developing secret from Difa. A determined Reggie risks all to save Xolile.
