Day 64: A triple farewell after a Triple Eviction – BBMzansi

News
28 March 2022
We’re now in Finale Week, but how we got here was brutal. Three Housemates had to leave the Big Brother Mzansi House last night, and things are decidedly quieter since they left. Here’s a quick review on how each of them spent their time in the House.

We now have our Top 5, and the voting race is on for South Africa to pick its grand winner of Big Brother Mzansi! How we got here is the story of nine weeks of intrigue, Nomination and voting. Oh yes, and the Ultimate Veto Power, which Themba used shape what Finale Week might look like. It’s also the story of last night, when we lost a total of three Housemates in one, fell swoop.

The first Housemate to back her bag was Terry. A strong competitor from the jump, she was easily one of the more outspoken Housemates and never backed away from a confrontation. She entered the House – like almost everybody – on 23 January, which is when audiences were introduced to her.

While she has a background as a makeup artist, it is her other hustle that viewers have been talking about, specifically the fact that she is an adult content creator. We’ll skip the details as to what exactly that entails (we’re shy, okay?), but she was never one to back away from owning what she does for a living. Also, when things got a little lusty, Terry was never far away.

She also struck up a relationship with Vyno – one of two Housemates who joined the House a week after everybody else. It was a whirlwind of a ship: started quickly, moved like crazy, and then died down as soon as Vyno was voted out of the House (more on this later).

Her fiery personality got Terry into a little bit of trouble. When the Housemates where punished by having the entire place made messy, Terry did not back down from voicing her displeasure – at Biggie. Using words our mothers wouldn’t allow us to write, she cursed Biggie and the production out from a dizzy height – a choice that earned her the first strike of the season.

Her final 24 hours in the House were very apropos: having won the most recent Friday Night Games, Terry earned herself a extra portion of takeaway ribs. After the Saturday Night Party, she wanted to share those ribs with the rest of the Housemates, only to discover that someone had taken half of them. She was not pleased.

Eventually, Tulz admitted to the fact that he had played a part in the Great Rib Caper of 2022 – along with Gash1 and Libo – and things calmed down a bit. Then, it was time for the Live Eviction Show, and Terry was shown the door. Following her exit, social had some things to say.

The next Housemate to be Evicted was Sis Tamara. From the word go, she showed herself to be a strong competitor: winning Friday Night Games, being Head of House twice, being the HoH who presided over the first every Wager Task win – she wasn’t playing around.

Early in the game, Norman wanted to express his respect for Sis Tamara – by proposing. It made sense at the time.

As mentioned previously, Sis Tamara struck up an early friendship with Terry, but this relationship took a few hits with the introduction of Vyno and his romantic involvement with Terry. Sis Tamara never let her friendship with Terry get in the way of doing what she needed to do. When given the choice – as HoH – of saving Terry, Sis Tamara instead saved Tulz and put Vyno in his place.

Sis Tamara did later admit that she had something of a crush on Vyno, and this may have played a part in her decision making. Her friendship with Terry grew a little strained, but they eventually managed to move on, and things were all hunky-dory again.

One thing that stood out about Sis Tamara was her refusal to be drawn into any alliances, saying that they were doomed to fail. While some might find this admirable, many would argue that it was short-sighted in the extreme. It played a huge part in Tulz being able to navigate the entire season without once being up for Eviction, and he never returned the favour. As a result, she found herself on the chopping block with Housemates who had survived a lot of Nominations, and she came off the worst for it. Social media – as per usual – had messages of support.

The third and final Eviction from last night was Thato’s. As soon as she joined the House, we knew we were in for something different, even if we couldn’t quite put our finger on it.

Thato was also never the obvious pick for making it to the Top 8. Sure, she was kind and funny, but she never appeared to be the type of stone-cold killer that makes it to the end of the game, but make it she did. She survived multiple Nominations, testament to audiences responding to her personality. She was also liked in the House, by multiple people. This included a brief flirtation with Norman. Tulz also showed his interest in Thato.

Curiously – or perhaps not so curiously – when Thato rejected his advances, Tulz started to reorganise his strategy to work against her. A little bit like her did with Nale, actually. Thato didn’t seem too fazed, though. Especially since she found something else – something a little more real, perhaps.

And that was that, as far as Thato’s “availability” was concerned. While their ship may have taken a bit of time to launch, it was full steam ahead as soon as it did. The couple became a staple of social media comments, and the two could regularly be seen snuggling up in bed – even when the rest of the House would have preferred that they wake up.

That relationship will have to wait, now. Gash1 remains in the House for another week, and Thato has been reintroduced into the wild. Social media had something to say about this.
