It seems most uncanny that news of the Silence of the Lambs house going up for sale is released in the month of Halloween, October. ๐ŸŽƒ But honestly, with the way 2020 is going, it shouldn't be surprise in the least. This year has shown the world horror after horror. ๐Ÿ’€

Let's come back to 8 Circle St though, in Perryopolis, Pennsylvania, USA, the address of the now infamous house.

The listing states that it is a "rare opportunity to own a prominent property". The three-story Queen Anne Victorian structure "is situated on 1.76 acres of level land along the Youghiogheny River." It has "original hardwood floors, woodwork, pocket doors and fireplaces [which] are in pristine condition, dating back to 1910 when the home was built." It is priced at just under $300 000 (approximately R4.8 million).

The 1991 movie, Silence of the Lambs, is based on the Thomas Harris novel of the same name. Jodie Forster plays FBI agent Clarice Starling, who wants to capture notorious serial killer, Buffalo Bill aka Jame Gumb (played by Ted Levine), who lives in this home. It serves as his lair where he dismembers and skins female victims to create a "woman suit". In order to capture him, Starling works with Dr Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins), a cannibalistic serial killer who is in FBI custody.

"You walk in there, and it feels like you're in a time warp or something," says real estate agent Eileen Allan, when speaking to news website Today.com. She and her sister, Shannon Assad are selling the home for Berkshire Hathaway. "It's very vintage feeling but in pristine condition, with wallpaper on every wall, and it feels like you're walking back in history with all the built-ins and woodwork."

Take a virtual tour of the home:

The biggest difference between the actual house and the version featured in the movie is the basement because there isn't a giant pit nor a serial killer work area. Those parts of the movie were filmed on a soundstage. It rather has a lot of storage, which always comes in handy, and a really nice room to wash clothes.

"Once the general store, the oversized three-car detached garage has endless possibilities," reads the property listing. "As does the vintage caboose that sits next to the built-in pool, with new filter and ceramic tile pool deck. With everything the home offers, this ionic property would make for an amazing Airbnb!"
