"No amount of fame or money will swell this pretty head"- Tender

14 June 2017
We asked Tender to share some of the greatest lessons she got from The Voice SA.

Just being on The Voice SA is a huge achievement, making it all the way to the Top 8 was definitely the icing on the cake for Tender Mavundla. Even though we had to say goodbye to her on Sunday, it was not without a good fight.

Her Journey

Tender’s blistering rendition of Brenda Fassie’s “Vulindlela” earned her three out of four coach turns in the initial Blind auditions of the competition and a spot on #TeamLira. She was the first of Lira’s singers to proceed through to the Knock-Out rounds, and in the second Live Showstopper show on 29 May, Lira chose Tender as her final Coach’s Save for her performance of the Tina Turner classic, “Proud Mary”. Before bowing out of the show on Sunday, she closed it off with Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball".

Even Team Miley Cyrus SA gave her their stamp of approval.

"Thanks ....firstly I'd like to say thank you for everything and I honestly feel like I have been given a half-year crash course in the Arts and Personal Branding," she said when asked about her The Voice SA experience.

Lessons Learnt

1. The industry is really small so behaviour can open or close doors quickly.

2. The very voice I have needs me to package myself right in order for everything to work together.

3. Nothing happens over night but this opportunity sure does nudge ones career completely.

4. I've also been reminded of what an awesome person I am.

I'm also so happy for my mom's teachings. She's an awesome woman and she beat the living daylight out of me to instil good behaviour generally hahahahaha a pan is intended there kwaaa.....suka...

5. I loved all the attention

I was treated like royalty and won't ever forget it. It's not every day that I get a team of absolutely amazing people to work hand in hand... just for me.

All the AMPN, M-Net, catering staff, drivers and designers at my disposal. I had the time of my life and I will continue being that farm Julia simply because ngikhuliswe ngenhlonipho (I was raised to be respectful) and no amount of fame or money will swell this pretty head I feel like I just went on and on ...

Hahaha we know Tender and that's why we love you. Wishing you all the best, we know your star will continue to shine even brighter.
