Of course, the KnockOut round gave the Coaches an opportunity to Steal – and this made for joyous viewing!

Then there were the three Saves the Coaches could make in the course of their team’s performances – these are the singers that slapped so hard, their fate was never in question!

#TeamLIRA – Our coach saved Krista Jonas, the PJ Twins and Yahto Kraft. Additionally, she saved Slindo Zondo, Petro de Villiers and Sbu Dludlu.

#TeamRiky – Riky saved Amy Tjasink, Eon le Roux and Joshua Parker. He then saved Morgan Beasley, Aura and Skhumbuzo Ndaba.

#TeamRiana – Coach Riana saved Lelo Ramasimong, Siki Jo-An and Elisha James. Later she saved Ilan van Staden, Vuyisile Mdlophane and Francois Viljoen

#TeamVanCoke – Francois didn’t risk Steals for Tasché Burger, Anslin Gysman and Daniel Jay. He allocated the remaining spaces to Matthew Reid, Chezelle Shahadat and Mia Malherbe.

For us though, one performance stood out – but it wasn’t for the obvious reasons. Ashur Petersen wasn’t even selected by Francois and ended up in the Viewers’ vote, but he chose to perform a song by his father, Taliep, who was tragically murdered in 2006.

The number, ‘Queen of Hearts’, was written by Taliep and his frequent collaborator David Kramer, and it was beautifully executed. He even performed in a suit made by his father’s former tailor. Anele summed it up when she took to the stage afterwards – “Someone is chopping onions in here,” she stated.

They sure were…
